A Countryside Engagement Session

March 18th, 2018

I’ve known Payton for many years. She and I met when I became friends with her older sister, Kinzi, back in middle school. Over the years, I’ve watched Payton grow up into an adult (which is crazy because I remember doing guided dance videos to the Pussycat Dolls at her house). When Kinzi reached out to me about photographing Payton and Ethan’s wedding at Kendall’s View, I jumped at the opportunity to do it! When I first started discussing Payton’s vision for the engagement session, I could tell she wanted it centered around nature. I sent her some ideas and she gravitated to areas with lots of grass. We ended up planning a countryside engagement session in Norman at a small field on the side of the road.

I love engagement sessions because they give me an opportunity to teach my couples about the way I pose and photograph, and it give us both an opportunity to get to know my couples. Payton and Ethan are quite the pair. The two of them both appear to be quiet, but once you start talking with them, it’s almost like watching them both blossom. You can tell that the two of them bring out the best in each other. The morning of their session, there appeared to be a threat of severe weather that evening. We had already been rained out twice at this point. Luckily, we were able to move our time up and beat the storms! Their countryside engagement session was filled with laughter and a side of playfulness.
