5 Reasons You Should Hire a Wedding Planner

March 18th, 2018

As a wedding photographer, I know how important wedding planners are from experience. I have seen the good of hiring a wedding planner, and the bad of not hiring one. Not only do they do the planning, but they are in control of many other aspects of the wedding day. If you’re on the fence about hiring a wedding planner, here are five reasons why you should take the leap!

Timelines

When you hire me to photograph your wedding, you get complimentary photo timeline advisement. However, on your wedding day, I’m focused on capturing your big day authentically. Because of that, I’m not always able to make sure that all of your other vendors are on time. A wedding planner is there to create a timeline for everyone, not just the photographer. Wedding planners look at every aspect of your wedding and create a timeline to make sure your day runs smoothly. Not only that, but they are available on your wedding day to make sure everyone is on task in order to keep everything running smoothly.

Budgeting

A wedding planner is also available to help you allocate your wedding budget appropriately. They are knowledgable about how much other vendors cost, and will have an idea of how much you need to actually budget for their goods or services. This will make sure that you aren’t under budgeting and have accurate expectations of what you will be spending. In addition, wedding planners are also able to work their magic and help lower costs on catering and bar service without forgoing anything (thanks to Harper Mae Events for this bit of info!). Another perk about them is that they are able to communicate with the vendors you are searching for, and help you with selections based on your needs.

Event Design

I cannot stress enough how hard your wedding planner will work to assure that the design of your wedding fits your vision. I have witnessed planners working for hours before the reception to make sure it’s perfect. They have an eye for design and are able to bring everything together seamlessly. Your wedding planner is also available to help maximize the use of florals. I have seen planners transfer florals from the ceremony space to the reception space with a quickness so that everything is ready when your guests arrive.

Less Stress

I have heard from so many brides that they were so grateful for their wedding planner because it alleviated the stress of the wedding. A wedding planner’s job is to do all of the nitty gritty work that comes with planning a wedding. So, if nothing else, they’re going to save you a lot of stress and tears during wedding planning. Even more than that though, they are there to take care of everything on your wedding day so that you don’t have to worry and can enjoy every little moment. I would suggest, at minimum, hiring a day of coordinator to help you out the day of your wedding.

Post Reception

One detail that a lot of people over look about wedding planners it that their work doesn’t just stop after the reception. Wedding planners have late nights after the reception while they make sure everything is taken care of once you leave. Inevitably, everything in the venue has to be taken down and cleaned up. After a long night of drinking and dancing, most people aren’t going to stay and help with that…that’s where your planner comes in! They take down all decor, put away everything, and take care of the cleaning. Another thing that you don’t have to worry about while you enjoy being married!
