When I first spoke with Liz and Lang, they told me that they wanted their fall wedding at Gaillardia Country Club to be an opportunity for a fun time! They wanted to create an atmosphere that radiated joy and happiness. Liz and Lang both shared the sentiment (much like myself) that they wanted to look back on their wedding photos and relive the moments from their big day. Because of this, I wanted to make sure to capture the day as authentically as possible, while still providing the fine art look that they fell in love with.
Liz and Lang’s wedding day was as fun as it can come! Prior to the ceremony, Liz and Lang spent their time with their wedding party – many who traveled from out of be part of their wedding. Two of their groomsmen served as the flower boys for their ceremony…tossing flowers and serving up beer! But the big fun started after Liz and Lang became husband and wife.
During cocktail hour, guests arrived to a red carpet and were interviewed by friends of the couple. As they entered Gaillardia, they were given a variety of activities to participate in during this time. Guests could enjoy a cup of boba from the boba bar, or a cocktail from the traditional bar. Jenny Elton was there providing live paintings for the guests. Various photo opportunities were scatted throughout the venue, including a 360 photobooth and a social photo station. One of my favorite aspects of cocktail hour was the champagne wall where guests could ring the bell and be given champagne from a mysterious hand!
Liz and Lang worked with their wedding party to choreograph three short numbers for the grand entrance. The bridesmaids entered in a beauty pageant like way, where the groomsmen did a hip hop number led by Liz’s brother who is actually in a hip hop dance crew! When Liz and Lang entered, the entire room was SO HYPE!! The two entered and shot off two confetti cannons, following by fog filling the dance floor. They broke out in dance with their wedding party surrounded by cold sparks!
Next up at the reception, Liz and Lang planned for multiple games that their guests could participate in. These games were all hosted by two good friends (yes, they had game hosts!). There were various prizes given out for these games, but the biggest was an iPad awarded to the winner of a version of musical chairs. Following these games, Liz and Lang performed a choreographed dance in front of a projector. The dance was carefully rehearsed for over a year and told the story of their relationship. One of the biggest moments of the night was when Liz’s brother and his dance crew performed a special choreographed dance for Liz. The dance featured her favorite songs growing up, and even a flash mob for this dance! Lang surprised her by joining in on the choreography. The absolute joy on Liz’s face was the best part of the night.
Liz and Lang enjoyed other traditional activities during their reception as well. The pair enjoyed cake cutting and toasts, followed by a common Vietnamese tradition of table toasts. After all of the festivities, they partied with their guests with lots of dancing, light sticks, and a CO2 cannon! At the end of the night, Liz had a huge surprise planned for Lang. At the end of the grand exit, Liz had rented a Cybertruck for their getaway vehicle ! Lang had been eyeballing one of these to try out, and he was truly surprised! I truly hope Liz and Lang are able to look back at their wedding photos for years to come and relive the moments that made up their special day.
