Surprise Proposal at the Gardens

March 18th, 2018

A few months ago, one of Katie’s best friends, Ashley, reached out to me. She told me her best friend’s boyfriend was going to be proposing and they wanted me to photograph it. What was extra special about this proposal was that Katie is actually a photographer herself, so I knew that there would be much thought put into it. Katie’s (now) fiance, Chase, planned on getting on one knee at Will Rogers Gardens. Her friends had come up with a stunning gold arch with blush floral accenting it. Together, they scouted the gardens to find the perfect spot for Chase’s surprise proposal.

The weeks leading up to the proposal were nerve wracking. Rain was beginning to show on the forecast, and although we were diligently looking for a backup location, everyone seemed to be booked! Luckily, there was no rain in sight on the big day. I met up with Katie’s closest friends, along with Chase, and prepared them for the big moment. We had everything planned (including what we would do with Katie’s purse should she show up with one)! Katie was under the impression she was meeting up with her friends to do a friend shoot for another photographer. Much to her surprise, Chase was standing under an arch ready to pop the question. Katie’s face lit up with joy when she realized what was happening, and said yes immediately after Chase asked if she would be his wife!
